CADREC offers several DUI/DWAI treatment protocols with the Driving With Care:Education and Treatment of the Impaired Driving Offender program. These protocols are implemented using the cognitive-behavioral approach, with the purpose of relapse and recidivism prevention.

LEVEL I EDUCATION: This is a 12-hour education program for persons who have been convicted of driving while their blood alcohol level went beyond legal limits or while they were under the influence of a drug other than alcohol. It is for first time offenders who, when evaluated, showed no problems, other than impaired driving, associated with AOD use, who had no prior diagnosis of Substance Abuse or Substance Dependence, and no other problems related to AOD use or misuse. The main purpose is to help clients prevent driving while impaired by alcohol or other drugs.

LEVEL II EDUCATION: This is a 24-hour education program for persons who have been convicted of driving while their blood alcohol level went beyond legal limits or as stated above in Level I, while they were under the influence of a drug other than alcohol. This program is designed for offenders who have at least minimal indicators, at initial screening, of past problems associated with AOD use or misuse and whose BAC was .15 or higher. The goals of this program are to help prevent recidivism -a return to AOD use, and to avoid relapse -a future pattern of alcohol use that has caused them problems and discomfort in the past and led to impaired driving.

LEVEL II THERAPY: This program is a sequel to the Level II treatment program. Therapy is never given without the Level II education component. This protocol is designed for individuals who, at minimum, show fairly clear pathognomonic signs of AOD misuse and problems and/or who had an arrest BAC level of .15 or higher. Clients are referred based upon prior DUI/DWAI convictions, prior AOD education and treatment and other clinical indicators. This program offers five different treatment tracks:
Track A: 24 hours Education + 42 hours Therapy
Track B: 24 hours Education + 52 hours Therapy
Track C: 24 hours Education + 68 hours Therapy
Track D: 24 hours Education + 86 hours Therapy
